the slake moth from
China Mieville's novel - Perdido Street Station

this bugger hypnotizes people with it's wings;
fixated on the swirling patterns in the shapeless black wings, the victim succumbs to a dazed stupor..
slobbering serpentine tongue shoots out... and sucks the victims neural pulses/brainwaves/dreams/mind..

nothing is left but a drooling imbecile... incapacitated,
mindless...

death is better.

This is the only illustration/interpretation of a slake-moth that I've seen that didn't seem far too "cute" XD

omg... You know, I kinda saw, in my head, the wings were a bit more colorful. But this picture really captures it, so much so that I feel now my head was wrong, and this is the correct version!
