(He is the creator/designer of the Aliens, though).
The Alien designs are just some of his many works...

Nope. Color first. then shade, then full shadows, then hilights, and finally additional tints..

I see :] that's how I used to draw as well ^^ experimenting with grey scale + colour now ;D It's fun, and it kinda works better on my screen, since colours get fucked up on it x]

i find doing grayscale first like painting over a pencil drawing with watercolor... or like coloring comics... dunno... depends on the style.. but it's less vivid
